In March of 2013 the strong winds broke the netting put over the church tower to stop the pigeons from roosting. The broken netting became tangled in the clock hands , so the clock wes stopped to avoid being damaged. On April the13th 2013 a 45 metre hydrolic platform was hired by Marske Fishermen's Choir and the netting was removed.
